Outdoor Connections and Education with ForestWatch During Earth Month

Spring is one of the best times of the year to visit Los Padres National Forest. With the great weather, spring blooms, and running creeks, some might argue it’s the best time of year to venture out.

Earth Day Hike

Last month we celebrated Earth Day by visiting Piedra Blanca with our partner, Padres Juntos Promoviendo La Educación as part of our Outdoor Connections Program.

The outing was an opportunity to expand access in Ventura County for families who might not get to visit remote areas in the forest often for any number of reasons—lack of invitation, perhaps don’t feel safe venturing out without a guide, don’t know where the access points are, socio-economic reasons, or simply don’t feel welcome on their own. It was also a celebration of Earth Day, and a time to learn about the ecosystem and threats to our public lands. The day consisted of recreation, community building, learning, and play for the kids who attended. After the hike families enjoyed much needed time relaxing by the river.

Thank you to everyone who joined us or supported our Earth month outings. Please make sure to sign-up for our e-news for future announcements.

Special thanks to the Clif Family Foundation.
