Frazier Mountain Clean-up

A small team of hearty volunteers braved blustery conditions atop Frazier Mountain in the Mt Pinos Ranger District this past week, scouring the area for microtrash. The site of an historical fire lookout and several massive communications towers, Frazier Mountain is a known perch location for California Condors.

The crew hauled 63 lbs. of mostly nuts and washers — along with nails and glass — from the site before the hail and thunder arrived mid-day. A great day of service, with outstanding views!

Since 2007, ForestWatch volunteers have completed more than two dozen cleanup efforts with the help of hundreds of volunteers, removing more than 11,500 pounds of microtrash and other trash from key sites within the condor’s range.
