ForestWatch celebrated it’s fifth year of activities as a part of the national initiative—Latino Conservation Week in July. The campaign is an opportunity for groups throughout the country to enjoy, connect, and show the ways Latinx communities protect the great outdoors. Individuals, organizations, businesses, families and individuals participate in a variety of activities, both in-person and virtual, like hikes, kayaking, park clean-ups, online expeditions, roundtable discussions, Q&A sessions, scavenger hunts, film screenings, etc., with about 200 events celebrated nationwide.
ForestWatch in collaboration with Wilderness Youth Project, welcomed families for a day at the park and forest, followed by a picnic. Kids were invited to participate in nature connection activities, while adults were led on a naturalist hike to learn more about the local ecosystem.
Latino Conservation Week takes place annually during the month of July. To learn more about the initiative visit LatinoConservationWeek.com. Thank you to Hispanic Access Foundation for sponsoring the event.
