Selective logging of trees up to 30 inches in diameter, vegetation clearing, and prescribed burning across 1,865 acres approximately 14 miles west of Frazier Park in Kern County, on Mt. Abel (Cerro Noroeste) and along the Chumash Wilderness.

n Mud Springs Trough Relocation - Monterey District
Repair and relocate a cattle watering trough on the Miller Canyon Grazing Allotment and install a fence to protect the spring from trampling and livestock damage.

Issues: Heritage Resources, Rare Plants & Animals (steelhead, red-legged frog), and Miller Canyon Recreation Trail

n Environmental Assessment for Leasing Certain Parcels Within the Bakersfield Field Office for the June 14, 2006 Oil and Gas Lease Sale
The Bureau of Land Management has prepared an Environmental Assessment for its upcoming auction of federal public land to the oil industry. The document analyzes the environmental damage that will be caused if the agency proceeds to lease 36 parcels totaling 20,800 acres in Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Kern Counties. Many of these parcels are located on the edge of the Los Padres National Forest, the Carrizo Plain National Monument, and the Bitter Creek National Wildlife Refuge.
