Santa Rosa Island Tour by Air
Santa Rosa Island, the second largest of the California Channel Islands, lies a few miles off the Santa Barbara and Ventura coastline and offers an exciting diversity of sites and activities…canyons rich with wildflowers, sandstone carvings, undisturbed tide pools, and plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth. This half-day tour for two will allow you to explore this fascinating and remote island that makes up part of Channel Islands National Park - visit the extremely rare Torrey pine forest, take in a stunning view of crescent-shaped Bechers Bay, observe an ancient Chumash village, and tour the ranch house - the oldest wooden structure in Santa Barbara County. Learn first-hand about the ongoing efforts to recover one of the world's most endangered species, and learn how the Los Padres National Forest plays a pivotal role in bringing the giant bird back from the brink of extinction. You guide will take you deep into the Los Padres backcountry to an undisclosed location, where you will have an excellent chance to see California condors - and their nine-foot wingspan - soaring overhead. Tour includes a barbecue lunch and wine tasting at Condor’s Hope Vineyard, hosted by owners Robbie Jaffe and Stephen Gliessman. Among the blue oaks and chaparral, Condor's Hope Ranch is nestled at the foot of the Sierra Madre Mountains in the Cuyama Valley.
