AREA BURNED BY DAY FIRE WILL
REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH SPRING 2007
Closure
Required for Public Safety & Resource Protection
While the Area Regenerates, According to Officials
Areas burned
during the recent Day and Scott Fires will remain closed to
public entry through the spring 2007 rainy season.
This closure
is needed to prevent further damage to soils and plants and
allow the watersheds to begin their recovery from the fire,
according to officials with the U.S. Forest Service. In
addition, there are many fire-related safety hazards within the
closed areas including damaged and unstable trails, roads and
slopes; snags; and significant potential for mudslides,
rockslides and flash flooding.
This temporary
closure prohibits all public entry to national forest lands,
trails, roads and recreation sites within the area shown on the
accompanying maps. The closure does not apply to private land.
Forest
managers will continue to assess conditions in the fire areas
and will reopen the closed areas based on safety and resource
recovery concerns.
For more
information regarding the closures visit the Los Padres National
Forest website, or call the Mt. Pinos Ranger District Office in
Frazier Park, at (661) 245-3731, or the Ojai District Office in
Ojai, at (805)646-4348.
