Protect the Carrizo! Art Show Benefit by Jim Stoicheff

Los Padres ForestWatch is joining forces with wall space creative and Jim Stoicheff to support our legal efforts to protect the Carrizo Plain from environmental disaster and exploitation. Join us at Jim Stoicheff’s Protect the Carrizo Plain Art Show & Benefit on July 19 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Waterline in the Funk Zone where you can purchase one of his special limited edition prints with 100% of the proceeds going to Save the Carrizo.

Jim Stoicheff is a Santa Barbara based photographer with his lens trained on the Carrizo Plain. From His artist statement, “The plain that has existed for millions of years is a different plain each time I visit. Flowers fade, washes appear, pavement crumbles, antique farm equipment rusts, cattle dung dots swaths, bullet holes riddle old water tanks, gates block previously open roads, fences disappear. And I am a different me each time I visit. Change is the only constant”.

Please respond today since this event is limited to 100 guests, and the need to Save the Carrizo is urgent!

MORE DETAILS…

Photographer Jim Stoicheff has documented the stunning beauty and pristine wildness of the Carrizo Plain for the last three years and his vibrant work is on the walls of the Shops @ Waterline in support of and showcasing the need for the Carrizo Plain’s protection from exploitation through new drilling.

Recently the Bureau of Land Management approved a new oil well and pipeline within the Carrizo Plain National Monument, and this single action could open the door to future gas and mineral exploration within the monument’s boundaries, potentially leading to significant reductions in wildlife populations and destruction of habitat. This benefit event will support ForestWatch’s legal efforts to fight the Department of the Interior and Bureau of Land Management to protect this wild space that draws thousands of people each year.

On the evening of Thursday, July 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, please join us at wall space creative in the Waterline in the Funk Zone, where you will find a collection of individual artist studios/shops, Topa Topa Brewing, Fox Wine Co., The Nook, and more.

The shops at the Waterline will be donating a portion of all sales proceeds to ForestWatch and Jim Stoicheff has offered a limited edition print in support of ForestWatch. With a donation of $100, the “Vertical Bloom” print, limited to an edition of 50 and sized 8.5×11 is the perfect reminder of the beauty and tranquility of the plains. For a donation of $1,000, an 11×17 photograph can support the organization and be a visual reminder of your commitment to supporting wildlife and wildness. All donations are tax deductible as allowed by federal and state law. A portion of proceeds from any sales of the Stoicheff framed prints available at wall space will also be donated to ForestWatch.
