Over the last seven years, our community has come together at Santa Barbara WILD! to celebrate our accomplishments while raising support for Los Padres ForestWatch, a small but mighty nonprofit organization that works to protect the Los Padres National Forest, Santa Barbara’s backyard wilderness.
We look forward to hosting our guests for the 8th annual event on October 15, 2023 at our new location, The Great Meadow on the Santa Barbara City College campus. With stunning ocean views, delicious foods, live music and highly curated live and silent auctions, it will be an evening our guests will never forget.

Peter Alagona is a professor in the Environmental Studies Program at UCSB. Before arriving at UCSB, he studied at Northwestern, UCLA, Harvard, and Stanford. He is the author of around 6 dozen articles and 2 books on American environmental history and human relations with wildlife, including The Accidental Ecosystem: People and Wildlife in American Cities, published by UC Press in 2022. He is also the founder and facilitator of the California Grizzly Research Network, which conducts research on the past and potential future of brown bears in California.
